Signs of Abuse

In the U.S today, there are approximately 1.7 million elderly individuals who rely upon nursing homes and long-term facilities to provide them with the basic necessities of daily life and essential medical care in an efficient and compassionate manner. Unfortunately, far too many seniors are not receiving the quality of care they should, by law, be receiving, which can often result in injury or death. Our Nursing Home Abuse law firm is dedicated to representing those injured by nursing home abuse, neglect and medical negligence. Only when citizens take action can we begin to rectify this growing problem.

Currently, statistics indicate that more than 30% of all nursing homes in America inflict some form of abuse upon residents. As our elder population continues to grow, incidences of nursing home abuse, negligence, abandonment and medical malpractice is steadily increasing. To meet the needs of our elder population, federal and state agencies have been designated to oversee and enforce nursing home regulations; however, they are failing to sufficiently do so.

If someone you care about is in the care of an Arizona nursing home or other long-term residential care facility you should be alert to indicators of abuse. Nursing home abuse can include:

·         Physical –
hitting, slapping, burning, pushing, restraining and dispensing too much medication or the wrong medication.
·         Neglect
deprivation of food, heat, comfort, hygiene care, clothing or essential medication.
·         Psychological –
shouting, swearing, frightening, blaming, ignoring or humiliating.
·         Financial –
the illegal or unauthorized use of a person’s property, money, pension book or other valuables.
·         Sexual –
forcing a person to take part in any sexual activity without his or her consent.

Young & Wallin achieved an excellent result.  My father died due to neglect at a nursing home.  Initially my family was apprehensive about pursuing it and we waited for over a year before contacting the law office.  The facility kept stalling us with stories about an investigation, but never admitted any fault.  In less than six months, I received compensation for the suffering and death of my father, and I am very happy with the results they achieved for my family.

My husband suffered a stroke out of state and was transferred to a local rehabilitation facility.  He was only in facility for nine days and suffered neglect and injury from falls and the failure to provide the care that they promised us.  After contacting Young & Wallin, the facility immediately recognized their failure and agreed to compensate my husband for his suffering and injuries that he received.  We did not expect much, but Young & Wallin got a great result for us.  The staff and lawyers were very helpful and understanding throughout this process.

Young & Wallin is a great team to have on your side.  The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.  They were always available when I had questions and are ready to help.  I am very happy with the outcome that they obtained for our family.

I was referred to Young & Wallin and they were very helpful in repairing my case.  Another lawyer initiated my case but I felt that he was not providing me with good representation.  Mr. Young obtained my case and got me an excellent outcome.  The recovery I received was very fair.
