In The News

In January, 2009, attorney James M. Morgan formed a partnership with fellow elder abuse litigation attorney Anthony C. Lanzone. Their partnership, Lanzone Morgan, LLP, focuses on representing the families of nursing home residents who have been abused.

Mr. Morgan has been recruited to work for the nursing home owners to defend their cases, but he has refused these invitations. He is dedicated to representing the victims of nursing home abuse and neglect. Lanzone Morgan, LLP does not represent big corporations. Lanzone Morgan, LLP seeks justice for those who have been victims of abuse and neglect and who could not defend themselves.

Mr. Lanzone and Mr. Morgan’s efforts, together, have led to more than $75 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of abused and neglected elderly adults.

Mr. Lanzone was co-trial counsel in Morris v. Longwood Management Corporation; Tzippy Care, Inc. dba Western Convalescent Hospital, where a jury awarded his clients $747,000 in compensatory damages and $12,000,000 in punitive damages.

Mr. Morgan obtained a verdict in excess of $5.5 million for the surviving daughter of an elderly adult who passed away after being given the wrong medication while in a nursing home.

Gunman Kills 8, Wounds 3 at North Carolina Nursing Home

A single gunman went into a nursing home killing 8 people and wounding 3 including the young officer that eventually shot the gunman.  It is a terrifying scene at a nursing home – one that you would never expect to see.  It is unknown why the gunman decided to take the lives of so many people.  Currently the investigation is leaning toward the suspect’s estranged wife who police say works at the facility.  However, the reason for the gunman to take the lives of so many elderly patients is unknown.

It is a time to remember your loved ones currently residing in care facilities, continue to follow the Nursing Home Abuse shooting as the questions are answered.

My father was the victim of horrible neglect by a nursing home, which caused his death. I have never been involved in anything having to do with the legal system, and even after my father’s death, I was very reluctant to look for an attorney to advise me about a potential case.  Luckily, I was referred to attorney James Morgan. Mr. Morgan was honest and supportive through the whole process.  Within four months, my case was settled.  I am hopeful that through my father’s case, as well as the efforts of Mr. Morgan and his law firm, nursing homes will create safer and better living conditions for their residents so that other residents and their families will not have to suffer as my father and my family did. My family and I will always be grateful for Mr. Morgan’s kindness and competence, and the peace of mind we now have thanks to the resolution of our case.
